Just installed the new paid version (v200) of FaceTrackNoIR. On execution a FaceTrackNoIR Error opens with the message:
Protocol-DLL not loaded, please check if the DLL is version 2.0
and all dependencies are installed.
(FTNoIR_Protocol_CSV.dll)
On clicking "OK" this is followed by similar error messages for the following DLLs: FTNoIR_Protocol_FG.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_FSUIPC.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_FT.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_FTN.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_Mosue.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_SC, FTNoIR_Protocol_Vjoy.dll,FTNoIR_Protocol_Accela.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_EWMA2.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_HAT.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_Oculus.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_PT.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_SM.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_Tobii.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_UDP.dll, FTNoIR_Protocol_Visage.dll.
Clicking each error message in turn, then allows the program to load, but without any profiles and without any features working. Although I did have v170 installed earlier, I uninstalled it and used CCleaner to before installing the new version. I also tried installing the v200 PluginPack, but this made no difference to the error messages.

I've discovered all my woes are due to this version of FaceTrackNoIR requiring to be started as "Run as Administrator". :-(
Hi lastivka,
Thanks for figuring that out by yourself.
It should not really be mandatory to run as Administrator, because we have tested it otherwise. But for all who encounter the problems you did: it bypasses the problems...
I tried running the program as Administrator and it still did not fix anything. Same issues.
Hi Piehthyte,
In which folder have you installed? Maybe it helps if you manually create a folder (like c:\facetrracknoir)
and install FaceTrackNoIR to that?
It still sounds like a "rights" issue...
I installed in the default location, it did not work. I took your advice and installed direct on C:\ but it still did not want to work.

My friend just installed it and it works 100% perfectly for him. I am not sure why it doesn't work for me or the people having this same issue. He installed it with no errors!
Hello Peihthyte,
Luckily it works for 99,9% of the users. It's the other 0.1% I'm trying to help though :).
I still assume that it is related to Windows rights and / or security. Can you try installing FaceTrackNoIR "As Administrator"?
You could also check the security-settings of the installation folder. Can you add Read/Write access "for Everyone" to the installation folder?
It's an interesting, but strange problem...
I had actually tried all of that. The same issue came up where Protocol-DLL Not loaded. If there are event logs or debug/verbose logs that you can point me in the direction of; I would be more than happy to send them your way!
I have sort of wonderful update news Wim Vriend, I installed 1.7 and it works perfectly. I reinstalled 2.0 again and it still is missing the DLL files so I tried something different, I installed 1.7 with the 2.0 plugin pack and the only errors there were, was from the plugin pack and it's associated DLLS. Figured you would want to know!
I have the exact same issue. I tried around with the security-settings, but I could not find a way to get it running.
Hi Niklas,
To analyse the problem thoroughly, could you run DependencyWalker on one of the DLL's?
When you do, you can save the results "as text" using the "Save As" menu-item.
Could you send this txt file to facetracknoir at gmail.com ?
We have to get to the bottom of this...
Hi,
I ran the program and send you the txt.
Just paid for v2 as well, and getting the same errors. Run As Administrator didn't make any difference.
Made any headway with this issue?
I installed v200, then installed the plugin pack (just installed everything... seemed easiest, and it's not much drive space). It's installed on my secondary drive (an SSD). I am an administrator account on the computer (so file permissions ought not be an issue) and ran the installers and the program with Run as Administrator.

Having the same issue as well with the paid v200. Installed the pluginpack as well. Tried running as administrator with no luck. Granted Full Control to all groups and users on my computer, no luck (this shouldn't be required anyway). I even tried adding the "Everyone" user group and granting that full permissions. Still had the same error.
I do see both the "FTNoIR_Protocol_CSV.dll" and "FTNoIR_Protocol_FG.dll" in the installation directory. Their permissions are also set to full.

Hello Bryan,
I am still busy trying to find a solution for this weird problem. Only very few users have it, which is fortunate but also makes it hard to grasp...
Thanks for trying to lower the security settings to get it to work. It makes me more convinced that the problem is not a security-issue, but that is has something to do with VS2013.
I'm not a VS programmer, but is there a way to tie the dll's to a different version? Is there something in 2013 that is being used that didn't exist in 2005? (I'm so not sure that question even makes sense :) )
I just installed the program on another computer I have here - also Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate), and it works fine (though I don't use that computer to game, so it was really just to analyze any differences in setup).
In the Visual C++ arena, the other computer where FTNoIR works has multiple versions of 2005 and 2008, 2010, and 2013 (installed by FTNoIR). On the computer (on which I game) where it doesn't work, I also have 2012 and 2015 redistributables installed.

I have encounterd the same problem. I'm running win7 ultimate 64 bit. If you need additional information, let me know. Also, I have (succesfully) used previous versions in the past. It might be a good idea to make old versions availible for paying users.
Hi Roelof,
You are right and that's exactly what we did: if you e-mail me, I will make the last (alpha) version of v180 avaiable to you.
We have also tried to get more info about the issue by adding debug-info to the MessageBox which displays the error(s). Unfortunately, we get different errors with different users... No solution yet :(
But maybe you can help me "get my finger behind it" (it's a saying in Dutch .. doesn't Louis always use it?)
Any luck with this issue yet?
Hello Marc,
No, there is no solution (yet). Nobody has reported the same problem(s) in the last month or two, so it's really an exotic issue for some users. I suspect that it can only be solved in two ways:
Any user experiencing this is invited to contact me, so we have more leads and so he or she can at least start with v180.
I have this exact same problem with paid v200 and with plugin pack v202 installed. It's pissing me off. If possible I'd like to have access to older versions of the program and try my luck with them.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 Service Pack 1

Hi,
Do you have another PC you can try FaceTracknoIR on? As mentioned before: this must be some freak Windows issue. Nobody reported it again since 2016...
I just stopped reporting/asking for an update. v300 was initially thought
to be in 2017, but ... I have since bought another solution (Edtracker).
I'm glad it works for the vast majority of people, though, because I think
it's a great project. :)

Nope.
I have reinstalled, rebooted computer, run every configuration of compability mode, diddled with DLL files and it still gives me the same error.
I know I had v1.70 in the past and it worked splendidly and I'd like to install it again, problem is that I can't find it anywhere anymore.
I guess re-installing W7 is not an option?
