fable workbench

Fable Workbench is the name of the graphical user interface workbench style application used to run all the Fable applications e.g. polyxsim, imaged11, grainspotter etc.

Installing

To install Fable Workbench download the workbench for your platform from the ESRF ftp site :

http://ftp.esrf.eu/pub/scisoft/fable/products

Unzip or untar the application. Make sure you have the following installed on your system :

Start the application using the script for your platform :

  • run_fable.bat
  • run_fable.sh

You should see the welcome screen of Fable. Click on one of the perspectives e.g. polyxsim, to start using Fable.

Updating

You can update to new releases of Fable Workbench with the help of the software update manager included in Fable as follows :

Select "Help -> Software Updates ..."

Select "Search for new features to install"

On the next window select the "Fable Update site" as follows :

If there are new features to install you should see a list of features to install on the next window, select all of them e.g. :

Agree to the (GPL) licence :

Agree to the restart the Fable workbench :

You should now have the latest versions of the Fable software ready to run in the workbench.
