Please see the documentation above regarding the Default Password and the Configuration Utility. You will need to log in as the 'console' user using the Default Password and run the Configuration Utility.
So if I importing the OVA I should be able to fire up the OVA and be able to connect to the WebUI ? If not what step am I missing ?
ohk, that clears up a little.
That should only apply to if you are installing on your own VM. If you are using the OVA, it should all be installed already.
"To install the Web UI, login as the root user and put the f5backupui.tgz file in a temporary folder such as /tmp. Then cd into the directory, unpack the tarball as such and cd into the f5backupui directory -" I am a little confused. In the location /opt/f5backup I did not find the f5backupui.tgz file which I could move to tmp.
Seth. Thank you. Let me try that now
The install on the OVA is stored in /opt/f5backup. If you wish to configure the software, you will need to run the configuration program first as the console user and then connect with your web browser.

To clarify, are you wanting to connect to the webUI or are you trying to modify the webUI?
I downloaded the OVA and fired up the VM using Virtual Box. What file location would I find webUI file ?
Thank you for tracking that down. I will update the library to use a longer timeout. Eventually maybe even make it a user option.
I was able to get the backups to work on the primary unit. I had to modify the timeout settings on /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/bigsuds.py file. I tried them at 180sec instead of default 90sec and that still failed so I bumped it to 300 sec and it started completing the read on the backup before it timed out.
143M on the one failing and 140M on the one that is successful. By the way, your software is very cool.

how big are your UCS files?
Both units are local, one is active unit (failing backup), one is standby unit (backup is successful). They backup virtual appliance is on the same subnet as the management interfaces of the F5's, with no firewall between them. I can ssh from the virtual appliance to both of the F5's using the backup account credentials that the appliance is using. I also found that the ucs file gets generated on the F5 eventhough the backup fails because I can see that the timestamp on the file changes to the time...
Are both units local or is the failing one remote? Or behind a firewall that might be breaking the connection?
I have the appliance installed and configured to pull backup config off of two F5's but it fails on one of the two with an error of File download failed for xyz - ('The read operation timed out'). Permissions and username for backup is the same on both. Any ideas on what might be the issue? Any help is very appreciated.
Michael, I'm glad the OVA is working for you. If you are interested in updating the Linux side of things, you can just do a 'sudo apt-get update' as the console user. If you are interested in updating the actual software, there isn't currently a way. Updating is actually the next thing on my TODO list. I hope to have something workable or at least good manual instructions soon.
Hi Seth, thank you for your great work! This project does exactly what i want. The certificate report is also great. Do you have a process to update the OVA? I did'nt find any Update Script in /opt/f5backup.
Appliance: Add prereqs installer for CentOS 6.
Appliance: Add an install script for creating an appliance
Update install script for CentOS 7 support
Appliance: Script to install prerequisites on CnetOS7
