Welcome to EZreclaim!

What does EZreclaim do?
It reclaims space on your Hard Drive used by multiple copies of the same file.

How does it do it?
Once duplicates files have been identified, EZreclaim can reclaim space in one of two ways.
1) Delete duplicates.
2) Replace duplicates with Hard Links.

What is a Hard Link?
A Hard Link is a directory entry pointing to a particular file on a volume. Normally there is only one, but multiple directory entries can be created, all pointing to the same file. Each being as valid a representation of that file as any other. Each link can have a different path and file name only takes up a tiny amount of Hard Drive space, so multiple Hard Links does not take up lots of space in the same was as having multiple copies of the data within the file would. Deleting Hard Links does not mark the file as being deleted until the last Hard Link is deleted. Multiple Hard Links to a file must reside on the same volume.

The wiki uses Markdown syntax.
