March 12 release of Exult, Windows 98, Serpent Isle.
When in the Silver Seed the player has gained the Belt
of Strength and equips it, and after that goes to the
Maze, all of the player's equipment, including the
Belt, is moved into the tree outside the maze. However,
the strength increase still applies to the player.
Worse, when later on another party member is equipped
with the Belt, his strength remains the same, though
when the Belt is removed again, his strength drops 10
points. It looks like this issue is automatically
resolved after saving and restoring the game. It may be
that an equivalent problem also applies to other stat
enhancing equipment.

i've experienced a different, but similar, problem with the belt
of strength. on humans it's worked fine for me. however, if i
put it on an automaton, his strength does not change, but
then drops ten points when i take it off him. i can understand
it not raising a generic automaton's stats (although i don't
remember how it worked in the original game), but lowering
them afterwards like that doesn't make any sense. haven't
tried it with the other stat-enhancing equippment.

It does occur with other stat-enhancing equipment, I just tried
it with the +Dex gauntlets in RC1.

This is how it worked in the original Serpent Isle, and
isn't an Exult bug. This was actually a very popular
exploit/cheat. Using those Golems you can create to join
your party, you could give all your charactors maxed out
stats by using the stat enhancing items and a little
creative thought :)
