Apologies if this is a duplicate - I know it was mentioned on the forums but I can't find an open bug report for it.
Ranged party members are still sometimes rushing into melee range with their bows and slings in the latest snapshot. I started a new game in Black Gate (with Keyring mod, for what it's worth), and here's what I'm observing: when I first enter combat, Iolo and Spark (armed with crossbow and sling respectively) will choose a target and attack from wherever they are, which is more or less correct. However, once they knock that target unconscious and choose a new target, they rush into melee range before attacking the new target.
In the original, not only do ranged party members not rush into melee range, they go out of their way to stay back from their targets. I once started a new game in the original, left Trinsic and promptly got knocked unconscious by a wolf, and observed Iolo (wielding crossbow) perform a sort of fighting retreat against said wolf - he'd step away from the wolf, turn and fire a bolt, the wolf would close into melee range again and take a swipe, he'd take another step away, etc.
This happens with melee weapons as well. The range on them is ignored, so everyone piles together. Looks silly with two-handed swords and such.
This has been improved a lot
