I don't remember what My hardware raid was referred to, but it wasn't
/dev/sd.  I think perhaps it was /dev/sg?

Please post a listing of your /dev directory
ls -l /dev

and if you have it /dev/disk-by-path
ls -l /dev/disk/by-path/
