Require that those who wish to receive email notifications from Extend-A-Story must use a double opt-in process to activate them. First, they must request through the application to receive email notifications. Second, they must respond to an email sent to them to again indicate that this is what they want. Additionally, every notification email must have an unsubscribe link that will prevent any further email from being sent out.

This double opt-in process is becoming more popular by legitimate sites as spam becomes more of a problem. It will help prevent abuse by signing someone up to receive notifications that they don't want. It will also help Extend-A-Story appear to be more of a legitimate web application.

For older installations of Extend-A-Story that already have a number of people receiving episode notifications, the upgrade process to the release containing this feature will involve sending a confirmation email to each of those addresses asking them to confirm that they still wish to receive email notifications.
