ExpSuite is developed, tested and currently in use on MS Windows 11. The ExpSuite setup package includes all necessary software parts and DirectX libraries, except MATLAB.
Recommended change in Windows settings → Language and Region: Uncheck box "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" and press ok.
Full package and standalone setup packages (for updates) are available on Sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/expsuite/. It is recommended to install the full package first and check for updates occasionally. The full package installer contains required DirectX libraries.
ExpSuite is using several MATLAB scripts for generating acoustical and electrical stimuli and to generate result figures. ExpSuite v1.2 is optimized for MATLAB R2024b.
ExpSuite v1.2 is optimized for pure-data (pd) 0.49 and YAMI 1.2 which are included in the full package setup available at sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/expsuite/). Pd must be installed to stimulate acoustical stimuli. YAMI is a pd module which is also included.
In ExpSuite's options you must manually set the path to YAMI.
Potential adaptations to YAMI: It might be necessary to adapt some files in the pd installation folder in case the following issues appear:
◦ Clicking noises while playing audio:
→ increase blocksize or audiobuf in [PD]\YAMI\YAMI.bat (using a text editor)
◦ Empty wav files recorded:
→ adapt ADC channels: open YAMI.pd → root → ADC → adapt channels for ADC engines (using pd)
Microsoft's DirectX is required to use ExpSuite with all its functions. The required libraries are included in the full package setup available at Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/expsuite/).
Microsoft .NET FrameWork 3.5 or newer is necessary to use ExpSuite.
ExpSuite FW v1.0 and newer allow presentations of sounds, videos and images:
◦ ExpSuite FW v1.0. uses Windows Media Player (must be enabled).
◦ Since ExpSuite FW v1.1 DirectX is used for video and image playback. Recommended file types are: .wmv, *.jpg.
