Could it be that the machines you are running the tests on are very 
busy?  But that would also mean that other tests would fail.  This 
behaviour is really reproducible?  It's always the same tests that fail 
consistently across all three OSes?  Are you running the same Perl 
version on all three machines?

I'm baffled...
