    The use of "autoconf" at Make time signals that this is
    1.95.1 (maybe .2?). The latest system won't try and do that.

    (woah: maybe prerelease? the -version-info is wonky looking)

    Regarding the link failure: that would appear to be a local
    problem, but I can't be sure. Since this bug was filed
    anonymously, we can't even get more information on this.

    I hope this has been fixed by recent changes, so am simply
    closing this bug. Marking as "fixed" since we at least fixed
    the autoconf thing (which may have rippled into the other
    problem; one can always hope)
