Hi, > First Question: > > When I do javac, I only get an error saying something like the packages to > be imported could not be found... eXist uses Ant to compile. Calling build.sh samples will compile the files and create examples.jar. I would also recommend to use Ant to compile your own application. Just use the supplied build.xml and adjust it to your needs. > Second Question: > > I intend to use the samples and combine them to some little application in > Java accessing eXist directly through the xmldb:api. We need to document this for the next release. Anyway, the following jars are required: exist.jar lib/core/xmldb.jar lib/core/xmlrpc-1.1.jar lib/core/log4j.jar lib/core/fastutil-2.52.jar lib/core/resolver-20020130.jar lib/core/jakarta-oro-2.0.6.jar lib/core/antlr.jar lib/core/xercesImpl.jar and lib/core/xml-apis.jar are also needed, but they are already contained in jdk1.4.1, so you can first try without them. With some Java versions, it might also be necessary to copy these two jars into the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/endorsed directory. Otherwise you may get error messages from the XML parser.
