We also use SES. My recollection is that setting up SES in the AWS console and with my domain provider was the hardest part. We wrote a document on the step-by-step process. I am happy to share it with you (and anyone else who might be interested). I just need to remove all of our sensitive information before sending it out. The Xquery code is pretty minimal. I would be happy to send you what I have as well. Let me carve out a little time this weekend and I will get what I have prepared to be sent out.
