Hi John, Apple tries to prevent people from running software released outside their proprietary orbit. But you will still be able to open and run it, and other non-Apple-vended software too. These instructions may be helpful: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/apple-cant-check-app-for-malicious-software-mchleab3a043/mac Last spring, I drafted some instructions to assist my students to install eXist locally on Macs and PCs, building on the official documentation (trying to anticipate things that might go wrong). In case helpful here they are. I should probably add this Apple security issue to my document! https://github.com/newtfire/textAnalysis-Hub/blob/main/Install-eXist-dB.md Cheers, Elisa Elisa Beshero-Bondar, PhD (she/they) Program Chair of Digital Media, Arts, and Technology | Professor of Digital Humanities | Director of the Digital Humanities Lab at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College Typeset by hand on my iPhone > On Oct 27, 2021, at 10:12 PM, John Preimonas <jpr...@ho...> wrote: > > Hi eXist-db folk, > I have loaded eXist-db v5.3.0 and now Apple is blocking me from running eXist-db!
