Dear Eduard, 

wouldn’t unicode decomposition via http://www.xqueryfunctions.com/xq/fn_normalize-unicode.html <http://www.xqueryfunctions.com/xq/fn_normalize-unicode.html> be the easier option here? Is there something not working with that approach?
