The technical sales for MarkLogic are very nice.  I suggest you contact
them if you are interested in doing a serious comparison.  The free version
has a size limit (50MB) that may not be very good performance testing.

In addition, they'll help you configure their product correctly.

What would be nice is to have an application for comparison.  Anyone
have any suggestions?

In particular, I'd love to see something that compares lots of
small documents to large documents.
