I'm happy to announce that our plans for an eXist workshop are getting
concrete now. The workshop will be organized in conjunction with XML
Prague on June 17/18 (http://http://www.xmlprague.cz). The conference
focus this year is on XML Native Databases and Querying XML, so eXist
fits in very well. The regular conference will take place on the first
day, the second day is dedicated to workshops and BoF sessions,
including the eXist workshop. There will be a symbolic conference fee
around 10 EUR (very nice for those who don't get their expenses paid
by an institution).
Concerning the workshop: we would like to give eXist users and
developers room to learn from each other, present projects, discuss
ideas, problems and our roadmap for the future. The schedule is still
very much open (time planned: 9am to 2pm). All community members are
invited to contribute and propose presentations or topics to discuss.
In particular, we would be interested to see presentations on concrete
projects you are working at, including problems you encountered or
wishes you may have. The workshop should not be too much
It would be great if those who are planning to come to Prague (or have
at least marked it in their calendar) could send me a short expression
of interest within the next weeks. This does not need to be definite.
We just have to give the conference organizers a rough estimation of
how many people we expect.
I would also like to encourage you to send me proposals for
presentations. Proposals don't need to be concrete yet. Just send me a
line or two about what you would like to present or a topic you would
like to cover.
