We contacted support yesterday. It seems a fire close to the provider has caused damage to the network.

exist-db.org appears to be down again.

Dear all, it is up again.
Not same reason, but on the other hand I don't know since the data
center ticket server refuses to show their answer to my request due to
"too many open files" ... :( so I assume a lot of requests were issued...

I have at least started to prepare for a redundant solution and will
install another server in another data center in the first week of February.

I did offer before to host a mirror of the site on the the servers
that I have in the US (these already host eXist Solutions).

Just as a point of curiosity, it seems odd to me that an "too many open
files" error would be encountered. Even on the default settings for linux
(1000 file handles) it takes quite a bit of load to get to this problem,
unless there is a file handles leak.

It might be worth checking to make sure the instance of eXist on
exist-db.org is not leaking file handles....
