I know that internally, we compile XQueries and then cache them, prior to execution. How difficult/involved would it be to expose the compile process, so that I could compile XQueries ahead of time (say using an appropriate Ant task), and store/execute the pre-compiled XQueries in/from the DB? Thanks! -- Andrzej Taramina Chaeron Corporation: Enterprise System Solutions http://www.chaeron.com |

Well, I think it depends on Sourceforge linkage of internal and OpenId accounts. I usually login using an OpenId from myid.net, and my internal sourceforge user name is shown on my bug reports instead of the OpenId. Or perhaps it is something inside SourceForge related to OpenId 1.0 vs OpenId 2.0, who knows. Not sure if others here subscribe to the eXist bug tracker on SF, but I've noticed that it does a pretty bad job of handling bugs submitted by OpenID users -- see the "Submitted By" line below. Surely OpenID servers provide a valid username that SF isn't making use of. I wonder if SF itself has a bug tracker for these kinds of things? Sounds like you're working in java, and I can't help you with that, but the following XQuery code does the trick: xquery version "1.0"; xmldb:login('/db/', 'admin', 'password'), xmldb:create-collection('/db/', 'a/b/c') => creates the collection tree /db/a/b/c. You don't have to create a before b (and b before c etc.). For more on the xmldb:create-collection() function, see http://demo.exist-db.org/exist/functions/xmldb/create-collection. My only other thought is that perhaps you weren't authenticated as a DBA? If you're still having trouble, please be more specific about the error you were getting. Joe |

There will be another eXist developer's teleconference on Friday, 4pm UTC time. We think those small online meetings are a good chance to discuss ongoing developments and coordinate projects. The teleconference is basically open to everyone who wants to contribute to eXist, developer or not. The agenda will change depending on attendants and interests, but the main topic for this week should be the 1.4.1 release: What issues are still open and need to be taken care of? Are there any show stoppers? Which trunk features are still to be ported back to 1.4.1? Another topic is the XQuery debugger. For the time being, we'll use skype. To participate, send your contact details to either me (skype id: wolfgangmm) and/or Dannes (dizzzz_nl). As an experiment, meeting minutes will be written live into the IRC channel (#ex...@fr...). Specs: http://www.w3.org/Addressing/URL/url-spec.html#z57 Both URI are valid. Problem: when eXist try to open a doc, it split URI to two path: collection URI and relative doc URI so URI like "/aaa/foo:bar.xml" will be converted to "/db/aaa/foo:bar.xml" and then splited for parts: "/db/aaa" - collection URI and "foo:bar.xml" - relative URI (lastSegment) of doc in collection "/db/aaa". Both parts eXist interpret as XmldbURI. In result we have exception, becouse foo:bar.xml have right xmldb scheme. P.S. Question in subject is not "valid or invalid" URI, but eXist's behavior. -- Evgeny |
