Does these excel XML files work in OpenOffice?

Any chance of supporting creation of Word XML files as well?

  I have been successful in opening the XML files with the OpenOffice 2.4 Spreadsheet program.
  I haven't tested it fully to know if all the features of the Office2003 schema are compatible with the OO Import.
  
  I briefly looked into creating Word XML files.
  The interface for this is very complicated. It's one of those things that typically should be done at the console.
  However, I'm investigating a stripped down interface for Word that would not even come close fully implementing the MS Schema for Word but would still allow for basic document generation.
