[Evms-devel] question: EVMS status

Hey guys,

I have here a simple question.
I have lately evaluated EVMS and found lots of problems. I also noticed that
the last released was already more than a year old. (Feb 26, 2006), just
want to ask if EVMS is still maintained?

IBM has pulled all resources from EVMS. Some of the people previously
assigned to EVMS are doing some work in their spare time, but apart from
that, it's pretty much unmaintained.

Any idea why?  I have a couple of servers with EVMS in use, and I'd hate
to upgrade the kernel one day and have things blow up.  Anyone know if
support from IBM will return, or is this the honeymoon fading between
IBM and Linux?

Any alternative technologies people are using?  Or is it back to plain
old LVM?

Good to know it's not in the kernel.

I already asked them to officially call for a new maintainer.

EVMS uses all the alternative technologies, incl. plain old LVM, under the=
=20
hood. So the only thing you would loose is the nice user interfaces.=20
However, this is what I would hate, though.
