the following request has been files against the eureka Debian package:
1.11-2 had a button on the sidebar that added a (back) sidedef to one-sided
linedefs (and somehow almost always guessed the right sector value). This
was very useful in my experience, but appears to have disappeared in 1.21-2.

There is a option in the config file called "sidedef_add_del_buttons" -- setting it to 1 (by editing the config file) will restore those buttons.
I think the reason why they are hidden by default is that they generally break a map when used, and it is almost always better to use the sector insert and delete functions. Nevertheless there should probably be a user-visible preference setting for it.
