Just a bit of extra logging during processing that was submitted in a patch request.

I had actually forgotten that I had been promoted to manage Eudora2Unix here, oops. ;-)

So I should go with the one on github ?

That's the (very slightly) newer code, so you may as well. If you have any issues with it, you can comment either there or here, and I'll see it.

    Good luck.

Ok thanks a lot Jonathan, also for having developed and provided this tool.

What is confusing: the github page mentions "A radically extended version of eudora2unix" while at first glance - not wearing my glasses when in front of the screen :), looking at the mentioned dates, the one on sourceforge seems to be the most recent.

Hence I'm wondering: what is the "radical extension (of eudora2unix)" part about on the github one ?

I didn't develop it, I just enhanced it a lot after Eric Maryniak created it and Steve White developed it further. The description at GitHub applies equally to the code here on Sourceforge and the code on GitHub. (I originally was developing my enhanced version on GitHub before Steve White handed me the maintainership here.)

The extensions mentioned have to do with support for attachments, mostly. Eudora kept attachments in separate files / folders, and the eudora2unix code has to smoosh the mail and the attachments into modern MIME multi-part files in the recovered mailboxes.

There was other stuff as well, though it's been a few years since I worked on it intensively. We had a VIP who had years and years of mail in Eudora, and it was necessary to do the best job possible at recovering his stuff, and it involved a lot of enhancements to eudora2unix to make that happen.

And it's possible that you'll find a need for more enhancements.. it seems that different versions of Eudora across Windows and Mac did things differently, and my user was on Mac. If you're recovering from Eudora on Windows and you run into problems (or if you run into problems anyway), let me know and I'll try to work with you on it at getting the best recovery possible.

As best as I can tell, though, Eudora was just a big old crazy mess, so 'best recovery possible' shouldn't be construed as 'perfect recovery'. In many cases it seemed as if the Eudora team went out of their way to make that impossible, but I think that has to do with just how ancient Eudora is. It certainly preceded MIME mail, for instance.

Hope that helps, and good luck.

Thanks for the clarification and inside story. It's like we say over here (about some women):

Beautiful from far, and (once you get a closer look) far from beautiful. :)

If you're recovering from Eudora on Windows and you run into
problems (or if you run into problems anyway), let me know
and I'll try to work with you on it at getting the best
    recovery possible.

Thanks for this friendly proposal. It will be from Eudora on Windows indeed, version 7.1.0.9.
