Returning NUTTHREADINFO * instead of HANDLE saves a cast and the option of casting to the wrong type. Also I can't see any reason why to use HANDLE.

Agreed. Same is true for NUTTIMERINFO etc.

However, as this may break existing application code, I prefer to delay this change until 4.7 beta.
