Where can I get the source to 5.0.4-mc3. I need to make a small patch so that I can load a different file from etherboot. I add ".img" to the tftp file name, that way, PXE loads the file as specified by DHCP and then etherboot loads the appropriate image which is given the name supplied by DHCP with my .img suffix. This would probably make a good standard feature. I just tested eb-5.0.4-mc3-eepro100.lzpxe which I got from rom-o-matic. It results in the same lockup at the same place. > > Also, that version of mknbi is also quite old. Try getting mknbi version > 1.2.6 from etherboot.sourceforge.net and tagging your image with that. AFAIK, I was using the latest. For the record though, where is the latest version avaiable from? The downloads for etherboot are not very well collated. http://etherboot.sourceforge.net/distribution.html for example lists 6 versions of mknbi which all point to http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/etherboot/mknbi-1.2.tar.gz > > I also seem to recall a subtle point a few months ago about making > bootable DOS images. Something about copying files in the right order to > the disk. Let me check... I am using a real floppy disk as the source image. DOS 6.2. Another problem I found was that if I enable himem.sys memory test, it must corrupt the in memory floppy disk image because I get an error about missing command.com. When I do not do the test it works. I also tested the Win98 himem.sys but it never does the test at all. I wonder is someone could explain where the following components go in memory: Intel PXE BIOS Etherboot when loaded via the PXE image The Tagged image loaded by Etherboot. What is the mknbi address 0x110000? Where my virual floppy disk image goes. Where the code which runs my floppy disk image is. And how does DOS know what memory it can use at the end of it all? > > OK, here's a link: > > http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/5299/2001/6/0/6063983/ > > And here's the interesting part of the message: > > Message: 6063983 > FROM: Phil Davey > DATE: 06/28/2001 08:32:52 > SUBJECT: RE: [Etherboot-users] Success report > > On Fri, 29 Jun 2001 <EMAIL: PROTECTED> wrote: > > >Dos 5 causes the ICA client to crash in this situation on this > compaq > > >(works fine on other machines). I would still like to get the netboot working but for the moment we have imaged the machines using a floppy disk.
