Lack of context wow. I hadn't looked at the set feature command and if the drive powers up in standby mode we definitely need to wake it up. I knew there were a lot of angles to IDE that it was easy to miss, I hadn't realized I'd missed a whole dimension. The nice thing in that case is that IDENTIFY DEVICE should actually respond and give us some information so it shouldn't affect our boot time unless the device isn't present. Eric |
