Why not? It's just packaging for lazy people. We can call it beta1,
dev1, etc if you don't like rc1.

What I don't want is a release that's indefinitely in CVS. But what I
want to see before 5.1.2 is official is an implementation of the server
side from somebody, anybody. Instead of tinkering with small changes.
