I agree that not necesarily needing mknbi is a good thing which
is why I am working on cleaning up the linux kernel build, so
it build ELF bootable kernels.

But the images still must be built.

And reply to me on this is definentily talking to the wrong crowd.
For the most part I figure todays BIOS's are way to complex to be
maintainable.  And I don't care how far you extend a pile of rubble
you just get more rubble. 

As for GRUB I see a lot of design issues with it, and it's whole
multiboot format.  I will agree for purposes of argument that
it may get experience right but that is about it.
