Ken, I have been having some really weird things going on with one of my development systems - this was even before I started incorporating the timer code in 5.0.3, I thought I would just build a standard tulip.lzfd0 and test it on one of my machines - the configuration was such that it should use the BIOS timer - It never managed to receive a DHCP packet - also, the timer appeared to be running extremely slowly. I then used the TSC version of the code and it was better, I received an IP and it requested the kernel from the tftp server but then bombed. This is with a Linksys card on a PIII 600MHz machine. As an experiment, I then moved the NIC to a 233MHz PII box and it works perfectly. I will try some more combinations, but there is something strange going on. As a result, of this nonsense, I have lost the rest of the day for coding, so will not be sending the timer stuff today - I will see if I am barred from working tomorrow by the boss!!!
