PXE is an umm, "interesting" (notice how I avoided saying "horribly
broken" :-) protocol. It seems to do three DHCP probes, and "picks" the
one it likes best. So it seems to take about 6 seconds to figure out
what to do. Etherboot takes no seconds (after the timeout). So I guess,
depending on the card, you'd be adding a few seconds. The PXE spec is
available at Intel. I think you can even read it without signing an NDA.
But the developer's kit requires some sort of the agreement with Intel.
I'm not into NDA's, in general.

It looks ugly, but apparently they got something to work. With some
work, one could probably fool RPL cards into loading Etherboot.
