Incidentally there is another way you can get access to the firmware and that is to read it directly from the ROM behind the Etherboot image, assuming your firmware can map that much of ROM into the memory space. You will notice that Etherboot displays the ROM address and length on bootup from ROM. This is extracted from the %cs and ROM length when the boot code is entered. You could use this to find the location of the firmware. Of course you'd have to arrange something different for testing from floppy. |
