In such a case you discribe, you have the best cards....
When there was a bios extensions for the 82559 then the best
way would be to exactly replace it. So the correct way here
would be to add it as /OEM0 and perhaps without address.

But before you burn in the bios extension, test it with the
floppy. You do

	make bin32/eepro100.fdimg
	dd if=bin32/eepro100.fdimg of=/dev/fd0

And boot from floppy to see if the etherboot code and all
it's settings do in a correct way !
