hello,
ok i have tryed off and on for many years now to get a diskless client....
i've gotten pretty good at linux but i'm NO where near an expert yet.
basilcy i'm trying to use a slightly modifed mandrake kernel and
intird on my client ( with nfs root and kernel auto conf and the
compilied in card drivers ) but i'm getting errors ( kernel panic -
not syncing - no init found bla bla bla
so i've tryed alot of stuff, even found something at ltsp (
http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/CustomLtspKernels ) about
making a custom initrd, well my question is what is needed in the
initrd? no one anywhere say's anyting about that, and yes i have
searched the archive and all i found was posts saying go read ramdisk
and initrd, i did they don't help. what is requied in intird to get a
diskless deal to boot? or even more direct, what should i add to my
mandrake initrd to get it to boot?....
also is there a decent how-to on ether boot or diskless clients ? i
don't mean an old and 'theroy' one i mean one that tell you every
step. example www.mythtv.org their how to tells you everything.
thanks
ps if you need more info on my setup ask..
