fist step: more research ;)
Why Beowulf? I have never done any clustering, but from what I read it seems
that much like there are many Linux desktop distros, there are now many cluster
distros. so unless there is some reason none of them will work for you
(doubtful)...
for instance: "ParallelKnoppix is a Knoppix based CD that allows the user to
set up a cluster of machines for parallel processing using LAM-MPI or MPICH. It
takes less than 15 minutes to set the cluster up, and the slave nodes can
PXE-boot." http://lcic.org/distros.html
but back to your questions about Beowulf, this looks pretty good:

http://knoppix.com - it isn't a special knoppix, just an option on the standard
one: app menu, knoppix, services, "start knoppix terminal server" and you will
get a bunch of dialogs asking how you want it configured.
I like to use the BT downloads - very fast and doesn't use any of the mirrors

ps, be sure to hit "reply all" so a copy goes back to the list. (I would prefer
reply just replies to the list, but that isn't how this list works.)
