I run etherape as root, and it starts up fine (without any error messages) begins capturing, but the gui just gets completely hosed. The area where the capture information should be displayed doesn't refresh and when I try to stop capturing, it doesn't respond. During all this, my network and cpu usage are pretty much maxed out, so it seems to just sit there and capture, but not display or respond.

I'm using 0.9.0 on RH8 and it seems to come up OK, but none of the buttons or menu items work. It also doesn't resize the graph if you maximize the window.

Anyone know s resolution to this issue? I've got RH8 and, likewise, I cannot use any of the buttons or menu items. It scans, but I cannot configure anything...
TIA

I run it on Debian and I can set preferences and resize, drag the protocols pane (with care....) but if I leave the desktop or X for a long while, when I come back it's zombie :(
I don't think it's a matter of resources, as it happens on a PIII-733 same than on a PIV-2.4, lots of RAM and Fast Ethernet and Gigabit.
What is the last glade warning you get before it dies? do you know what logs are concerned ?

I think I'm seeing that too with
Gnome EtherApe 0.9.0
compile from source on RH9
