Using the et131x module the device eth1 gets generated. But it's not possible to get an IP address with dhclient (dhclient probes forever).
It is possible to assign an IP address manually. But I can't reach any other node in my internal network.
I am using a custom kernel 2.6.27.8 and et131x 1.2.3-3 compiled for AMD64 on a current Debian (Testing) system. The module et131x loads fine:
[ 686.190970] 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet Driver for the ET1310, v1.2.3 01/31/2006 15:40:00 by Agere Systems, http://www.agere.com
[ 686.190970] ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:00.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
[ 686.206049] PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:01:00.0 to 64
[ 686.219116] udev: renamed network interface eth0 to eth1
[ 686.253308] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready
[ 687.820143] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready
I have also tried the stock Debian kernel 2.6.26-1 and the approriate et131x modules. Also I tried (almost) all possible options for the et131x module. But no success yet.
Do you have any suggestions? Thank you,
Werner

here comes an update. I have just installed the same Debian version but for the i386 architecture. The network works out of the box with stock Debian kernel 2.6.26-1 and the appropriate et131x modules.

Hi,
I have the same problem with no IP from DHCP server with Fedora 10 (and 11 Alpha). I see the request go out but nothing comes back from the server. Other NICs on the PC work ok though.
Can anyone one offer any suggestions?
Thanks
Anthony
