Hello, thanks for this interesting peice of work. I do electrical estimation and I cant find a way to add labor in hours tho the materials database. Can you explain how to add price/labor rates for materials.
Thanks

Ok, I have read the whole pdf and i cant make my mand around this software yet but i will. I have used here in US a couple of Electrical estimation softwares like McCormick and CoNest and the have the material price/labor rates in the same record. My question is:
What you are saying is that i have to create a resource for Lets say
1 - 400 Amps Switch Unit price "whatever price i get from supplier"
2 - 400 Amps Switch Hour "whatever time i will assign to this resource"
Is this right?
1 - Where Do I add a single material with price per unit and Labor per unit, what is the process for this?
2 - How do i create assemblies out of those items so i can speed my work?
3 - I havent found anyware where to add quantities.
Sorry, I know I sound a little dumb but I cant figure this out yet,
Thanks

An Assembly is a unit of work (e.g. Installation of 400 Amps Switch), to complete it you invest/utilize certain amount of material (The switch unit, screws & bolts etc), labour (certain man hours at certain rates) and equipments.
In addition to cost of those resources, you may like add certain Overheads like your profit and contingencies to arrive at a final unit price of that particular Assembly.
You will be able to figure out the rest after spending a while reading the user document and randomly playing with the application features.

Thank you, so in my other softwares Assamblies are created from simple materials, in this case my materials are "resources", now when I am creating Assemblien I cant import any resources. Why? Thanks

Another dumb question. Where in the software is where you actually add quantities. LOL, I cant find the place. it sais only "Add Assembly" but not "Add resources", even adding an assembly there is no place to put quantities. I am missing something here. Thanks

You cannot associate Resources with an Assembly on the Assemblies page. You must prepare an "Analysis of Rate" (AOR), in fact system allows you to prepare multiple AORs for the same Assembly.
Although this has been found annoying by few users, this is quite deliberate and offers additional flexibility.
Civil/Electrical cost estimation process is usually divided in four phases (A, B, C are infrequent):
A. Preparation of the Schedule of Rates (Assemblies)
B. Preparation of the Bill of Material (Resources)
C. Preparation of Analysis of Rates (Costbooks)
D. Preparation of Definitive Estimates
Certain users (Turnkey Contractors, Government bodies) skip (B) and (C) completely and use (A) and (D) to arrive at a good enough estimate for a project. They are not interested in the MRR (Material Requirement Report)/BOQ (Bill of Quantity).
Certain types of users may use different "Analysis of Rates" under different circumstances/site-conditions (same Assembly, but a different combination of resources and/or prices). This is quite common in medium/large EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) works. Such users follow the full sequence listed above.

Thank you Kumar, I am starting to get the hang of the software. I run the database script in my sql instalation and I am playing around with the demo. I think I got it now. Thanks for your help. I appreciate the time you have spent with my problem.

Hello Ernesto,
You must first add a Resource of type Labour (User Document section 3.2).
And then build an "Analysis of Rates" for your Assembly (section 3.3.6 of the User Document).

Wow, that was a very fast response, thank you,

Ernesto,
You are almost there. Here is the broad idea:
An Assembly is a unit of work (e.g. Installation of 400 Amps Switch), to complete it you invest/utilize certain amount of material (The switch unit, screws & bolts etc), labour (certain man hours at certain rates) and equipments.
