Game

The game takes place in a huge fictional world, 'Essytas'. Unlike other games, your goal is not to rescue the world from all evil but to lead a young man and his family through their lives. Your decisions control the fate of the characters.
As you may have guessed, there isn't a real storyline. Instead, not long into the game a fire will destroy your village, forcing you to find a new shelter. What happens next is completely up to you.
The game doesn't have an end, it ends when your character dies.

General

I'm translating the game while I'm programming. Both German and English translations will be on the same level mostly, although one may lack behind at times. If you want to translate Essytas into another language or improve the existing translations, feel free to either fork the project or create patches.

Requirements

Essytas is completely written in Ruby. You will need to install one of the latest releases, the game won't run on Ruby versions prior to 1.9.
You'll also need Rubygems, through which you'll need to install Gosu, the game library used by Essytas. If you are not Windows, go grab a release from their websites, otherwise you'll need ruby-dev libraries to compile Gosu.

Note: If you use the essytas gem, you don't need to install any other gems yourself.

The gem will take care of all required stuff and is mostly stable.
