Update 4/27/06 (New Release Notice)

Escape Route 3: The New Escape has now been in the development stage for about a month. I've been keeping quiet about this new version for awhile now, but thought I'd release the good news.

Escape Route has always been a web-based game programmed in JavaScript. And because of this, it has always been slightly slow since JavaScript can't handle high-end graphics (which most games require). But the new Escape Route 3 is now programmed in Java - still in development though.

Feel free to post any comments, suggestions, features, or questions using the form below.

I have released a beta screenshot of Escape Route 3. Take a look at it here: http://sourceforge.net/project/screenshots.php?group_id=145303
Obviously that's just a beta-level and is only used for testing purposes. It's mostly going to be changed before the full game is released. As you can see, a new item has been added to the gameplay - pushable rocks.

As with Escape Route 2, Escape Route 3: The New Escape has been completely programmed from the ground-up; it hasn't been built off an earlier release, the code is all new. ER3 is also much faster. Another great feature is huge level support. Since I've added something called "Scrolling" (only a portion of the level is visible on the screen at any given time), I am able to develop huge levels for this new release. The last two changes are the graphics and movement. The graphics have been changed slightly, and made a little bigger. The movement is now much more smooth. The player now moves by a pixel-by-pixel basic, rather a tile-by-tile basis, but unless your a game programmer, you probally won't understand that. Another change that will occur is improved enemy AI (Artificial Intelligence), but since enemys have not been created yet, it won't happen until they are created.
