#28 HDF-EOS 4 read/write

Extension of the BEAM toolkit to allow HDF-EOS 4 import
and export. An open source interface to HDF-EOS 4 is
available as part of the VisAd Java component library.

Justification:
1) HDF-EOS provides a standard format for the handling
of swath, grid and point data unlike versions of HDF
customised to hold georeferencing data.
2) HDF-EOS is the NASA format for the Mission to Planet
Earth and is supported by a range of pubic sector
tools and Image Processing COTS.
3) HDF-EOS 4 is is used for Terra and Aqua data
products, most importantly MODIS. Import/export in the
HDF-EOS 4 format would provide MERIS users with
interoperability with MODIS.
