On my computer, I don't get the loopback failed message when I run the 64-bit version of the emulator. I do get the loopback failed message when I run the 32-bit version of the emulator inside a virtual machine. At work, I don't get the message in the 32-bit version running on a real machine, so I think that this is somehow dependent on the network setup of the system the emulator runs on. Camiel.
