With the latest firmware from HP for es40* (as linked in http://www.es40.org/Getting_the_firmware ) memory test takes *much longer*. (I found no SRM-command to disable this.)
The es40 fw with fast memory test:
size=692736 2006-06-12 10:19 cl67srmrom.exe (emulator produced size=2097168 decompressed.rom)
the current es40 fw with *much slower* memory test:
size=693248 2007-03-05 10:18 cl67srmrom.exe (emulator produced size=2097168 decompressed.rom)
Funnily the decompressed.rom generated when es40 runs and can't find this file, have identical size.

Are we allowed to upload the previous fw here?
*) ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/alphaserver/firmware/current_platforms/v7.3_release/ES40_series/ES40/es40.zip
it is the line 'drawing' the dots which takes 'forever' now when using the latest HP es40 fw:
Memory size 1024 MB
testing memory
…
the first line of the SRM console
OpenVMS PALcode V1.98-104, Tru64 UNIX PALcode V1.92-105
didn't change. so I guess we don't loose anything by using the previous fw.
