Following the instructions given in the readme.md for cloning the repository:
# git clone git://es-f.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/es-f/es-f
# git submodule init
# git submodule update
This asks for knutkohl@yryie.git.sourceforge.net's password, because git submodule sets up the repository with your user name in it.
