Hello all, My name is Chris McCormick. I'm a 27 year-old programmer in the States. I've been programming for a few years, mostly in web stuff (HTML, javascript, ASP, PHP, etc.) I do a good bit of work these days with PHP and databases; you can see my main ongoing project at www.the-athenaeum.org. I play a lot of computer games, and have always been intrigued by them, especially good roleplaying games with a fully-realized world (I'm thinking Fallout, Arcanum, Baldur's Gate, Ultima, etc.). I also love strategy games, especially Blizzard and Westwood's stuff. I've always wanted to learn to program them, but frankly, it's pretty difficult, and as a dad with a full-time job, it's hard to find the time. I've attempted on a couple of occasions to learn C++ and DirectX, but not gotten very far. All of which leads up to Python. I started programming with Python about a year ago, and wrote a small virtual life app using Tkinter. But I got stuck when I tried to convert to a tile-based map, and quit using Python for a while. Now, several months later, I've discovered SDL and PyGame, and I'm very excited again. I'm working on several small projects, and trying to learn everything I can. I'd love to work with you guys on EOM. I can jump in wherever you need help, though it'll take me a while to get up to speed, and I'll no doubt ask a lot of dumb questions. The main obstacle to me right now is that I can't use CVS at work, where I actually do most of my coding (remember the dad thing?). If there was any way you could package a zip file of the directory structure (I use WinME), it would help me tremendously. Hoping that there is a place for me, Chris McCormick work e-mail: cmc...@th... home e-mail: liv...@ya... |
