On September 1st the European Commission is going to vote a revised version of the European Patentability rules. The proposed revision contains a set of serious challenges to Open Source development since regulation regarding software patents will be broadly extended and might forbid independent development of innovative (Open Source and not) software-based solutions. The European Open Source community is very concerned about the upcoming new regulation and has organized a demo protest starting August 27, asking Open Source supporting sites to change their home pages to let everyone know what is going on at the European Parliament. The Envolution Content Management System has decided to support this initiative, and this is why you are seeing this page. For further information please see http://swpat.ffii.org and http://petition.eurolinux.org. The Envolution CMS has demonstrated support for this protest by changing it's homepage in conjunction with other Open Source projects such as the Apache Foundation. Zoom |

I was wondering if their is anyone around who could translate Scott's EU patent message into other languages?? Any and All languages would be appreciated as we could maybe add the multilang text to the splash page or link to it... Just trying to think of the international community -- Furbo Computers are useless. They can only give you answers. -Pablo Picasso |

I was thinking more to translate the Splash Page at envolution.com and have the message a few times in various languages there so if people dont read english they would know How to get to the other links.... the splash page is at envolution.com when it defaults to come up... I know, envo.com is mostly english anyway and why would a non-english reader go there and expect other languages.. well, might as well offer what we can since a lot of the envo support sites have left -- Furbo Computers are useless.
