Initial Comment:
What is likely the most common usage of the switcher 
command?  My guess is:

switcher <tag> = <name>

There is a full page of syntax that a "--help" will invoke 
which doesn't mention the above usage!  (I know the 
man page does, but the syntax is likely the first thing 
users will see)

Also, "switcher --help" isn't even a valid option.  That's 
an oversight I'm sure.

Last problem with the syntax page is that it seems to be 
tailored more to admins than users.  If anyone should be 
forced to read the man page, it should be admins.
