hell i fixed the problem. Filgy helped me determine that my libGL libs were suspect, and that i also had another set of libGL* libs under my xlib lib dirs due to me playing around with cvs DRI. i removed the xlib GL libs and installed the mesag-dev oss-opengl-glu debs. now test_evas works, but it's got an avg framerate of like 20. i'm going to enable the dri stuff in the latest kernel (cvs DRI says to disable it) and see what happens when i modprobe agpgart and mga then run test_evas.
