Hi, I'm sort of new to the list, but I would like to help out with e17 development. The basic problem is that I have only minimal C skills (enough to understand code, but not write much of my own). I have noticed a great need for documentation help, though, and I can do that. I don't have much time, but with the time I can spare, I'd like to keep an FAQ for e17 users. I think this will help in a few ways: 1) The developers will have time to code 2) The users will be more likely to get things up and running 3) More users will see how cool things are, and want to help (like myself), therefore advancing the project as a whole I haven't exactly figured out a great way of answering questions yet, but I have a few ideas. The method I think will work best is pretty simple... Questions will be sent to me, and I'll answer new questions on the FAQ as soon as I can, if I can. The questions I cannot answer will be put on the FAQ anyway with a note that I don't yet have an answer. I can then either 1) send a weekly (or so) digest of unanswered questions to the list, cutting down all of the support requests to a single message or 2) leave the questions sitting on the list until somebody browses by with the answer. I feel the first would be more conductive to advancement in the project, but would require a weekly (or so) message full of questions to read or delete. Hope I can be of some help to you guys, I really love the stuff you're working on. [BTW - my current take on the enlightenment is dead thread: There is a reason that most large projects have release managers. Releasing a chunk of code is not an easy thing to do, and it is surely not something most developers care to waste time on. Every hour spent making a release (or answering stupid questions, as I propose to do) is another hour away from coding, designing widgets, testing, or sleeping. I do agree with the benefits of releasing code while still in development, but there needs to be somebody else to do it.] Tim Fabiniak tr...@ga... |
