Hi, I'm testing e17 currently built from cvs as debian packages for woody. E comes up but not with its own desktop, it looks like a screwed up last session from my e16, menues don't work either and when i select an area it looks sort of ugly too. I could get it to work when i mixed the my cvs built packages with some earlier cvs built from debian for woody, had to install e17, ebits and ecore because of the dependencies so i suppose the bug is somewhere in one of them. What i get back from startx looks like: monitor id for = -1 configure for view wm generated 0 0, 1024x768 size 1024x768 focus out event focus out Desktop focus in event focus in Desktop configure for view wm generated 0 0, 1024x768 size 1024x768 doooown (nil) (400006) focus out event focus out Desktop configure for view wm generated 0 0, 1024x768 size 1024x768 doooown (nil) (400015) Menu hide! focus in event focus in Desktop configure for view wm generated 0 0, 1024x768 size 1024x768 doooown (nil) (400006) doooown (nil) (400006) doooown (nil) (400006) Got from STDERR on a right click: (II) ATI(0): Shutting down Xvideo subsystems Which doesn't say anything why. Since yesterday the window manager itself doesn't build any longer either because of a linking problem: view.o: In function `e_view_handle_fs': /home/mojo/building/e17/e17/apps/e/src/view.c:2079: undefined reference to `efsd_reply_data' /home/mojo/building/e17/e17/apps/e/src/view.c:2104: undefined reference to `efsd_reply_data' But this doesn't really worry me, it's easily fixed. Well i don't really know if it makes a difference, but the debian build scripts strips the binary, so this means that hmm some debugging info is lost ? Couldn't find no debugging option for configure. I wrote a script that builds the core enlightenment packages in a certain order and installs them, it's quick'n dirty hack but it works just fine and safes time, if anyone is interested just mail me. It sure isn't a lot of good debugging info, i am sorry for that but i wouldn't know how to get some more detailed info currently. Glibc is 2.2.4, X 4.1.0, gcc 2.95.4, ... would have to compile a list of other dependencies, don't know what makes sense though. Thanks a lot for your work btw, i have been using enlightenment for 2 years now and it sure rocks :). David |
