Ok, so the reason the gnome logout button did not work is because I was
execing E and running panel in the background. When I exec the panel,
the button works, but the left-click menu logout no longer works.
Anybody know of a way to get them to both work?

You can always bind a button to a script that executes "eesh -e exit",
that should work.
